In September 2020, DISH Network and NagraStar sued piracy end-user Daniel Monge in the Tribunal Superior Court in Puerto Rico. Monge previously entered into a settlement agreement with DISH and NagraStar to pay $3,500 in damages based upon his purchase and use of IKS subscription codes to a pirate service. After Monge failed to make timely payments under the settlement agreement, DISH and NagraStar filed suit in state court for breach of settlement, seeking damages and attorneys’ fees. Through the litigation, Monge remitted payment for the full amount of the prior settlement agreement. DISH and NagraStar will continue to enforce the terms of the settlement agreements they’ve reached with those responsible for trying to circumvent the companies’ security system in order to gain unauthorized access to DISH Network programming.
