I did not know anything about IKS codes or pirating satellite signal until I received the letter in the mail from NagraStar in April 2019 and did some research. In fact, my family had been paying a customer of Dish Network and Sling Service for long time. I thought the letter might be a mix-up, a hoax, or an extortion campaign. But the letter had the PayPal account information and email address that I used, with dates of transactions to a PayPal username, [REDACTED]. I had unknowingly participated in theft of Dish Network satellite signal when I was 17 at school and away from home. I signed up using PayPal account and paid subscription fee of $27 per quarter (Feb. 2013 - Sep. 2015).
I am truly sorry for any financial loss Dish Network might have incurred. I learned my lesson and know better about not getting involved with satellites signal theft. If anyone else is involved in a situation like this, I advice them that these letters are legit and need your attention as soon as possible. Consider getting legal help before it is too late.
